23andMe Statement in Response to Letter from California Department of Health

Published by

As has been reported in the press, 23andMe recently received a letter from the California Department of Public Health inquiring into our compliance with certain clinical laboratory testing statutes. We respect the department’s attention to this matter and believe that our interests are aligned; we both want to ensure that personal genotyping services like those of 23andMe are accurate and reliable and that the health and safety of the general public are not compromised. We look forward to continued discussions with the Department regarding the appropriate regulation of this unique industry.
