Join 23andMe at ICHG/ASHG 2011 for Drinks and a Chance to Win an Exome!

Published by at 8:00 am under announcements

What: 23andMe Mixer and Exome Giveaway*
Date: Wednesday, October 12th
Time: 8:30-10:00pm
Where: Les 3 Brasseurs, St-Paul, 105 St-Paul St. E., Montreal, Quebec

The world’s top scientists and researchers in human genetics will gather in Montreal next week to chase down plates of “poutine” with pints of La Fin Du Monde while discussing the value of whole genome sequencing, debating the merits of gene patenting and showing off some of the newest breakthroughs in this rapidly changing field.

To ensure that everyone at ICHG/ASHG 2011 stays hydrated, 23andMe invites attendees to a social mixer* at Les 3 Brasseurs, a microbrewery in Montreal. If that’s not enticing enough, we’ll also be giving away a free exome sequence to one lucky individual!

(Of course, you can also count yourself lucky simply by being in the presence of a bunch of chatty and genetically good-looking 23andMe scientists.)

Here’s the low-down on the giveaway rules:

  • The drawing will be held on Wednesday, October 12th between 8:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. E.T.
  • You’ve got to be 18 or older (but you’ve got to be 18 to drink in Quebec anyway so no underage party crashers).
  • No purchase necessary and you don’t have to be an existing 23andMe customer.

For more information about the drawing, view the official rules here, contact Event Officials at the drawing, or send your request and a stamped, self-addressed envelope to 23andMe ASHG Exome Giveaway, 23andMe, Inc., 1390 Shorebird Way, Mountain View, CA 94043.

* 23andMe’s Mixer and Exome Giveaway event is not affiliated with ASHG or ICHG.

If anyone is going to be in Quebec on Oct 12th at this event, pls let me know so you can drop my card in the drawing for a chance to win the exome?
Otherwise, can “event officials” be notified of wish to be included via email? If so, consider me a wisher for exome info….
    Thanks 23&me, mm

    Hey, that’s in my city!
Can anyone drop into the restaurant and say hi? Will 23andMe have an official presence there?

Thanks for your interest! This is an official 23andMe event and we welcome interested parties to join us at the brewery for drinks and lively discussion. You must be present at the event to be eligible for a prize, however, so no remote participation in the giveaway.

Very well. 12 October is here in Spain “El día de la Hispanidad”, or “Columbus Day” as Cristobal Colon discovered America that day in 1492
I should be interesting to know the genetics of Colon, as still it’s unknown were he was born. A descendent from Colon is ever in Spanish Armada.
Good for “La fin du Monde”, but Spanish wines, today are as good as French ones.
